Group Classes and Vinyassa Flow Yoga
Classes are open to all ability and experience levels.
I prefer to think of myself as a facilitator of yoga
rather than a teacher, and each class will be lead in
a noncompetitive, encouraging way. There will be times
of working hard. There will be times of silence. There
will also be times of silliness and laughter. Yoga is
about where you are in your practice, not about me or
what poses I can do.
Group classes are lead in the Vinyasa flow style. In
Vinyasa flow yoga, we use breath to guide our bodies
into yoga poses. The poses will be our gateway for
unlocking tensions within our bodymind while awakening
and strengthening our deep
muscle structure. We will start class with a few moments to relax,
release surface tensions and come into awareness of
our natural breath patterns and progress through a
series of yoga poses (asanas), transitioning from pose
to pose either with an exhale or inhale. It does not
matter what the person next to you is doing. Each
person is encouraged to follow their own, unique
breath pace. Variations of poses will be offered,
either to modify or deepen a pose. Some poses will be
held for a while; some poses will be repeated. We
will also explore some simple breathing exercises
(pranayama) and cleansing exercises (kriya). Each
class will end with a short guided meditation and
rejuvenation period.
Yogilates
This class combines vinyasa yoga and pilates
exercises. We will work on toning the body by using the contractions of pilates and the expansions of
yoga.
Warrior Classes
These classes combine high energy yoga moves with mat pilates based exercises. Expect "sets" and "reps", but still a flowing sequence and style. I will emphasize balancing and connecting standing poses together in a way that will challenge our ease and comfort and yet still be guided by our breath. Each class will focus on different muscle combinations for an excellent compliment to your athletic cross-training.
Not recommended for beginners.

for information. Pre-natal Yoga
Emphasis in this gentle yoga class is on relaxing the overworked neck and back muscles, strengthening the pelvic and leg muscles, breathing and exploring shifting balance and body shape. Modifications are given for different stages of pregnancy. Pre-registration required for this is a five week series Family Yoga series
This three week session is designed to connect you with your family members. It doesn't matter who's in your family or what your experience levels are. There will be times to work together with interesting partner poses and interactive movements, matching different sizes and ages, as well as time to explore independence with side-by-side work. There is laughter often, challenges, and quietness too. Depending on who's around, we may try a non-competetive game. Balance, co-ordination, flexibility, and patience are all explored. This is one of my favorite classes to teach, partly designed working with my own children. I'm afraid that the class is not set up for children under 5. Also, I have found that it is difficult to work on seriously injured bodies in these classes--that kind of work is best left for other yoga classes--but it is a great way to meditate with the family and have some "serious playtime" together. Yoga Workshops
Maybe your staff, athletic team, garden club, or girl scout group, needs a break from its usual gatherings. I can lead an unique workshop for you including yoga, meditation, and relaxation techniques. Maybe your group is small and would just like an hour workshop, or maybe you have 150 people and you would like three hours of work. I can make a fun and interesting program that calms you down, focuses your mind, gets your blood circulating--or all three! Private
Sessions
You can have a yoga class at your convenience. A private
session can be a great way to further your yoga practice.
Perhaps you want to work a specific body area or want
to explore an idea more fully than we take it group
classes. Private sessions can also be a place to start
if you feel you need yoga 101 before you have enough
confidence to join a group class. Private classes can
work better for people who may not enjoy the energy
of a group class, you may just want more individual
attention or have a lot of questions, or maybe you want
help in setting up a home yoga practice. I have worked with a variety of people in private
sessions. Some were
athletes looking for the stability and deep
internal strength yoga can bring, some
were in pain, some were
shy, some were retired, some had a different
availability from group classes.
Private Group Lessons
Schedule your own weekly group class
tailored to your specific needs--maybe for your
athletic group, club, support group, friends or
neighbors.
Note:
Please note that while I am not a yoga therapist, I
have a wide range of experiences to draw from to help
guide you in your exploration of yoga. Call or E-mail
